Becker Fourth On Diamond League Debut

Sophie Becker finished fourth on her Diamond league debut on Sunday night in Rabat.

Becker posted 51.84 seconds for fourth place. The race was won by Marileidy Paulino of Dominican Republic in 50.10 seconds.

Sada Williams of Bahamas was second in 50.74 seconds with Jamaica’s Stephanie Ann McPherson third in 51.37.

Very well done to Sophie and hopefully the first of many DL meets.

On Friday night Eric Favors continued his good form finishing third at the Nashville meet with a throw over 20 metres again.

Favors threw 20.05 metres on his fifth effort to take third place. Nigeria’s Enekchi Chuk won out with a best of 20.72m with American Andrew Liskowitz second with 20.10m.

On the roads, at the Cork City marathon Carmel Ward was the first Shamrock home in 3:05.55 followed by Gavin Judge 3:52.09 and Jeremy Skillington 3:54.51.

In the half-marathon Stephen Butler was home in 86:20 followed by Tommy Crampton 94:06, Denis Murphy 95:37, Keri Delaney 1:42.12 and Alan Browne 1:55.39.
