Raheny Invades Morton Games

The shamrock’s walk into the lions den of Morton Stadium on Saturday night as international athletics returns to Dublin.

Sophie Becker, Mark Smyth and Eric Favors all carry the Raheny flag on the Clonliffe Harriers organised Morton Games which is part of the World Athletics Continental tour.

Becker will race in the Bon Secours Hospital Dublin Women’s 400 against 2015 double Pan American gold medalist Kendal Baisden (USA). Also in the field are Great Britian’s Amy Hillyard and Natasha Harrison.

Fresh from Diamond League duty, national 200 metre champion Mark Smyth races in the 100 metres against Bismark Boateng of Canada, Britain’s Dewi Hammond and South Africa’s Anaso Jobodwana.

Eric Favors will be back in the shot put against Italian Olympian Nick Ponzio.

A number of the club’s juvenile athlete’s are also taking part in the junior races on the undercard. The event begins at 6.05 with the main card getting underway at 7pm.
