National 200m champion Mark Smyth helped the Irish 4x100m relay team to sixth place at the Stockholm Diamond League on Thursday night.
Smyth ran an impressive second leg as Ireland clocked 40.01 seconds. The race was won by the Netherlands in 38.70 followed by Denmark 39.26 and Finland third in 39.31.
Fourth place went to Switzerland in 39.40 with Estonia fifth in 39.57.
Isreal Olatunde handed over to Smyth with Cathal Doyle running the third leg and Joseph Ojewumi racing the anchor leg.
The Irish 4x100m team are in the qualifying hunt for a place at this year’s European Championships in Berlin.
