Niamh McCorry took the national junior shot put title in Tullamore with a great throw of 10.57m.
McCorry confirmed her fantastic potential to land gold with a throw of 10.57 nearly a metre clear of Adrienne Gallen.
Gallen from Lifford in co.Donegal took silver with a best of 9.87m. Bronze went to Nina Wallace with a best of 9.83m.
Meanwhile Stephen Fay took U23 5,000m bronze posted 15 minutes three.80 seconds.
Gold went to Matthew Neill of Strive Racing in 14:44.88 with Castlebar’s Thomas Devaney taking silver in 14:55.25
Elsewhere on a very encouraging day Sean L’Estrange set a new personal best of 10.97 seconds when finishing sixth at the U23 100m.
Sean L’Estrange clocked 11.07 seconds to take third in h2 before clocking 10.97 in the final. Michael Farrelly took eighth place in 12.14 seconds. Farrelly had clocked 10.96 to make the final.
The race was won by the national senior 100 metre champion Israel Olatunde in a new national record of 10.24 seconds.
Elsewhere Jessica Afrakomaa took fifth place in heath two of the 100m posting 12.89 seconds.
Oisin McCorry took fourth place in the U23 400m posting 52.09 seconds. McCorry made the final clocking 53.14 in his heat.
