There was double medals collected at the national novice cross-country in Cork as the women’s team collected a very impressive silver and the men a solid bronze.
Lucy Barrett was first home in 10th place followed by Aisling Ahern in 11th. Mairead Roche (39th) and Roisin Leahy (40th) gave Raheny 100 points.
DCH continued their strong form taking the national title with 68 points. Raheny took silver with nine points to spare on Clonliffe Harriers.
Also racing very strongly were Triona Nic Dhonaill (61st) and Laura Brennan (87th).

Next came the men’s novice team with Gavin Eccles taking 10th place one spot ahead of Shane Spring. Dylan O’Brien came home in 32nd place followed by Adam Condon in 37th, giving Raheny 90 points.
That was just one point ahead of East Cork and enough to secure bronze for the Raheny men. The men were just two points of silver medallists Craughwell. Mullingar Harriers took gold with 52 points.
The non-scoring members of the men’s team also put in a strong performance with Dara MacRiocaird 86th and Davey Duane (128th).
