Fay takes Euro Cross Top 30 Finish

It was a tough day at the office for Brian Fay and the Irish senior men’s team in Turin at the European Cross Country championship.

Fay finished 30th and third scorer on the Irish team which finished eighth overall. A day that just wasn’t to be for the Irish team. However there is no doubt that Brian whose 2022 has been electric and the rest of the Irish team will rise again in the near future.

Overall it was a very successful day for the Irish team landing a record medal haul of five. Nick Griggs (Silver) and Dean Casey (Bronze) in the U20 race helped Ireland to silver.

There was team silver for the men’s U23 team and impressively the women’s senior team. Five medals is a record haul for Ireland in these championships.

Unfortunately the usual bunch of Raheny Shamrock euro cross travellers missed out on the championship when their flight was cancelled on Saturday morning. Meaning this was the first time since way back in 2005 there was no Raheny Shamrock support track side.

Onto the next one!
