New Club Records For Fay And Fogarty

Brian Fay and Niamh Fogarty set new club records over the St Patrick’s weekend.

Fay moved second on the Irish all-time list for 10,000m when clocking 27:43.45 at The Ten in California on Saturday night.

Fay came home in 22nd place in a race won by USA’s Grant Fisher in 26:52.04. Fay’s time was just off Alistair Cragg’s Irish record of 27:39.55.

The 38-second PB for Fay, was also the qualifying standard for the European Championships in June.

Meanwhile, in Sweden on Saturday, Niamh Fogarty set a new club record of 56.01 metres for the discus. The tournament was won by Lisa Brix Pedersaen with a best of 56.73 metres.

Fogarty already second in the all-time list, set a new personal best by 0.84m. Fogarty’s eyes are now firmly set on Patricia Walsh’s 40-year-old national record of 57.60 metres.
