Raheny Shamrock AC Complete Purchase of St Assams Church

Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club are delighted to confirm the purchase of St. Assam’s Church Raheny, D05 T8N8.

The purchase of the site, where the club took residency in 2022, brings to a conclusion the club’s 30-year search for a permanent home.

2024 will be regarded as special year for club as we take this step with member’s Sophie Becker, Eric Favors and Brian Fay set to represent Ireland at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and Orla Comerford set to represent Ireland at the Paris Paralympic Games.

St Assam’s Church is a key landmark in Raheny village. Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club will begin a process to renovate and upgrade the property for athletics and sport purposes, while keeping the old church’s character.

It is the Clubs intention to engage and consult with members and local stakeholders over the next period with a view to informing a planning application to Dublin City Council.

The purchase of the St Assam’s Church by Raheny Shamrock AC was made possible by heavy fundraising over a 30-year period by the clubs members. The club will look to raise funding and capital grants to complete the upgrade of its new Clubhouse.

This is a landmark date in the history of Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club as we aim to continue the development and growth of athletics in our area.
