Sophie Becker Bows Out Of Olympic 400m

Sophie Becker bowed out of the 2024 Olympic 400m after finishing second in her repechage heat.

Becker posted 51.28 seconds behind Kendall Ellis of USA, with the race winner progressing to the semi-finals. Unfortunately, while Becker clocked the second fastest time of her career, it was enough to take one of the two fastest loser spots.

“I produced my second fastest time ever; I can’t be greedy” explained Becker. “The perfectionist in me wants more but I have to be happy with that”.

“I’ll rest up tonight, shake out tomorrow and then meet with the relay on Thursday” added Becker. ”You can’t dwell on this race too long.”

Becker will return to action in the Women’s 4x400m Relay on Friday.

Brian Fay gets his Olympic campaign underway tomorrow in the heats of the 5,000 metres. They get underway at 10:10 Irish time.
