Farrelly Helps Ireland To New National Record

Michael Farrelly helped the Irish 4x100m relay team to a new national record, breaking a record which stood for 25-years.

The team of Farrelly, Bori Akinola, Marcus Lawlor and Israel Olatunde set the record in a time of 38.92 seconds, when finishing second at the World Continental Tour Meet in Switzerland on Saturday.

The previous record of 39.26 seconds was set at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. The coach of that Irish team was a famous Raheny Shamrock man, Paddy Fay.

A very well done to Michael and the Irish team, here’s to a further lowering of theĀ  record soon.
