Brian Fay Sets National Lead At 5,000 Metres

Brian Fay posted the fastest 5000 metres by an Irish man this year when he clocked 13:08.25 at the Nacht van de Atletiek meet in Belgium.

Fay took second place behind Belgium’s Isaac Kimeli who posted 13.01.39. This was Fay’s fastest time since 2023.

Eric Favors threw a season’s best of 20.09 meters when he finished fourth at the Madrid international. The shot put was won by Italy’s Leonardo Fabri with a best of 21.99 metres.

Back on the track Sophie Becker made a welcome return to racing posting 52.12 at the Madrid international 400m B race.

At the AAI Games, Orla Comerford posted 24.63 seconds for fourth place in the 200m.

Comerford took sixth place in heat one, series one of the 100m in 12.02. In series two heat one Comerford posted 11.94 seconds.

Whereas, Angela Castell Rodriguez took fourth place in heat three of 100m series one in 12.67 seconds. In series two heat three, Rodriguez took victory in 12.59 seconds.

While, Hannah Keogh finished an impressive 15th at the girls U15 pentathlon. Keogh taking an impressive seventh place in the high jump.
