Kelly Helps Ireland to Fourth

Kieran Kelly helped Ireland to fourth place in the mixed relay at the Great Edinburgh cross country.

Kelly ran the third leg for Ireland having received the baton from Ciara Mageean though was unable to make on ground on the USA and Great Britain teams.

Ireland eventually finished in fourth place, brought home by Kerry O’Flaherty in 11:22 with Great Britain taking gold in a sharp 11:10, USA second in 11:17 and Scotland A third in 11:18.

Mick Clohisey became the first Raheny Shamrock man to represent Europe as he finished eighth scorer on the European team which finished second behind the USA.

Clohisey finished in 26th position overall in a very fast moving race that was won by America’s Leonard Korir in a sprint finish past Callum Hawkins.

At the great Winter run held as the opening to the great Edinburgh cross country, the Fox family were out in force, being led home by Michael in 22 minutes 39 seconds.

Clare posted 28 minutes and nine second both well clear of their dad and one of the club stalwarts Larry in 35 minutes 46 seconds.
