Another big weekend for Raheny athletes as Mark Smyth set another club record and Brian Fay scored a massive win in America. Fay won the 10,000m at the Pac12 champion meet in Walnut California clocking 28.24.90. Impressively Fay took a big sclap in the reigning NCAA cross-country champion Charles Hicks. Niamh Fogarty made a good welcome return to competition with victory at the second Dublin graded meet in Tallaght on Wednesday night. Fogarty threw a best of 50.52 metres in the discus to register victory. Anna Gavigan of LSA took second place with a best of 44.13 metres. Fogarty’s 2022 was heavily disrupted due to a back injury so it’s great to see Niamh back in competition and winning competition….

The famous series returns for it’s 25th consecutive edition as a now established part of the road racing calendar. Brian Fay set a new club 1500 metre record on Saturday night at the On Track Fest me in Mt. San Antonio College Fay finished sixth in 3:38.39 representing Washington State university. The time bettered Fay’s previous record of 3:40.40 which was posted 12 months ago on May 6 2022.
