Mark Smyth Sets New 200m Indoor National Record

Mark Smyth wrote more history at the Leinster championship today when he set a brand new national indoor 200 metre record. Smyth took gold in 20.64 seconds smashing Paul Brizzel’s 20-year-old record of 20.64 seconds. Kate Purcell Wins Lusk 4 Mile

Kate Purcell won the women’s race in the Lusk 4 Mile clocking an impressive 22 minutes 20 seconds. Purcell had some 16 seconds to spare on Trim’s Edel Gaffney. Becker Helps Ireland To Fifth Place

Sophie Becker helped Ireland to fifth place in the 4x400m relay final at the European Indoor Championships. Becker exploded from the blocks to claim a great position at the break and handed over to Sharlene Mawdsley in fifth place. Becker’s split was 53.70 seconds.
