The second day of the Leinster track and field championship saw Raheny Shamrock athlete’s take home two gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Niamh Kearney took silver in the 3,000 metres 9:35.31 with Siobhan Eviston taking bronze in 10:04.50, the race was won by Bronagh Kearns of St Senan’s in 9:25.62. Mark Smyth won the Leinster 100 metres in 10.48 seconds to add to the national medals he collected last week. Smyth posted 10.48 seconds for gold ahead of Joseph Ojemumi of Tallaght who posted 10.50 seconds for silver. Donal Kearns collected double silver in 110m hurdles and the long jump. Kearns clocked 17.38 seconds for silver in the hurdles a race won by Aaron Tierney Smith in 15.48 seconds. Later…

The race for the 2020 Lord Mayor of Raheny Two Mile series is really heating up with just three rounds remaining. 28 athletes have now completed eight races marking them eligible for a final table position, with their best eight results counting toward the final score.
