The St Stephen’s Day Paarlauf made a welcome return to it’s traditional venue in St Anne’s park with six teams taking part.
In a very competitive race Adam Condon’s team including George Sevastopulo, Susie O’Flynn, Clare O’Leary and Deirbhile O’Keeffe came home first in the 20 minute continuous relay.
The team of James Hyland (captain), Dara MacRiocaird, Orla Manley and Rebecca O’Rourke came home in second place.
The Eugene O’Leary cup was presented to the winning team in honour our founder member and late president Eugene O’Leary whose idea it was to hold a Paarlauf relay on St Stephen’s Day starting in 1970.
Elsewhere Mick Clohisey was scored a good victory at the Athenry 10km winning out in 30:45, nearly 30 seconds clear of Craughwell’s Jamie Fallon. Robert Frewen took 12th place in 34.03.
