Favors Sets New National Shot Put Record

Eric Favors set a new national shot put record on Saturday night of 20.42 metres in Mephis.

Favors now officially regains his Irish record after his throw of 20.20m in May is still waiting ratification.

It continues a remarkable season for Favors who has broken the 20m mark on several occasions already this season. The distance had eluded Irish throwers for so long.

Favors breakthrough performance in May saw him take over from Olympian Paul Quirke’s (Crusader) national record which had lasted 30 years (20.04m 1992).
