Charlotte Wingfield has qualified for the 200 metres semi-finals of the commonwealth games.
Wingfield competing for Malta posted 24.47 seconds to take fourth place in heat six this morning and qualify as the fastest non-automatic qualifier. The race had been won by Natassha McDondald of Canada in 23.45 seconds.
The semi-finals are set for Friday’s evening session.
Wingfield is now the second Raheny Shamrock athlete to compete in the Commonwealth games following Zoe Brown who took part in the pole vault at Glasgow 2014.
