National Cross Country Round-Up

A tough day at the national cross country championships in Rosapenna, Co. Donegal, the first time since 2014 that the championships took place outside Dublin.

Kate Purcell in 28th place led the women’s team home to eighth place. Purcell was joined by Lucy Barrett 46th, Aisling Ahern 45 and Zoe Quinn 58th.

The club prize here was won by DCH with 64 points, just one clear of Letterkenny with UCD third.

The men’s side finished a very disappointing 14th led home by Gavin Eccles 41st, Kevin Moriarty 86th, Dylan O’Brien 99th and Robert Frewen 102nd.

The non-scoring team members were Graham O’Dwyer 124th and Ian McConkey 130th.

The men’s junior team finished in ninth place led home by Shane Spring in 21st place, followed by Adam Condon 25th, Conall Rogers 87th and Dara MacRiocaird 95th.

Ella Beck took 63rd place in the junior women’s race.
