National Indoor League Gets Underway

The 2023 indoor season got underway in the national indoor arena with round one of the national indoor league.

While final table scores are not available it was a mixed day for the club with Michael Farrelly the strongest performer in the 60 metres.

Farrelly clocked 7.11 seconds for third place in his heat and fourth overall. In the 800m Conall Rogers clocked 2:08.70 third in heat two and sixth overall.

Oisin McCorry posted 23.86 seconds in heat one of the 200m to take third place and seventh overall.

While in the 3000m Robert Frewen clocked 9:25.57 for fourth place.

The 4×400 team took third in heat one in 3:45.49 and placed fifth overall. While in the shot put Liam Sheehan took eighth place with a best of 6.87 metres.

In the long jump Donal Kearns posted 5.88 metres for sixth place.

Helen Buckley was the best of the women’s team taking fifth in the shot put with a best of 8.81 metres. Kim O’Hare took sixth place with a best of 4.97 metres.

On the track Siomha Magee took fourth place in heat one of the 800m in 2:25.46 to finish seventh overall. In the 3000m Triona Nic Dhonaill finished eighth in 11:49.48.

The 4×400 metres third in heat three in 4:32.65 and eighth overall.

Round two of the national indoor league takes place on January 22nd in Athlone.

A number of Raheny athlete’s also ran as guests in the day’s guest races.

Tara Meier clocked 8.28 in series one of the 60 metres and 8.15 seconds in series two. Michael Farrelly clocked 7.00 in the 60m guest race.

Daniel Stone won the 1500 metres in 4:04.93. Jack Beary posted 25.61 seconds in the guest 200m.
