Men’s Team Take National T&F Division One Title

Raheny Shamrock men’s teams claimed the National track and field league first division with a dominant display in Tullamore.

The Raheny team collected victories in nine events to claim the first division title with 134 points. Ennis Track club were runners up with 108 points.

There was victories on the double from Oisin McCorry in the 400m hurdles and the 400 metres and for Cillian Kirwan over 1500m and 800m.

Mark Smyth claimed the 100/200 double. While distance victories for Shane Spring 3000m S/C, Stephan Fay 5000m.

Colm Bourke won the Long jump and took second in the triple jump.

There was second place finishes for Jackie Whelan in the high jump and the 4x100m team. The 4x400m team finished third.

While Dan Reddin took shot put third place and Discus, fifth place. Also scoring for the team was Maciel Melo Luiz Guilherme taking fifth place in the 1500m walk. Liam Sheehan was fifth in the Weight for distance. Dave Moore doubled up for sixth place in the hammer and fifth in the javelin.

While, there was heartbreak for the women’s team who finished fourth in the premier division just two points off Leevale.

There was very good performances on the women’s team with wins for Niamh Kearny in the 2000m S/C, Niamh Fogarty in the discus and Valentina Marzari Martens in the shot put and weight. Marzari Martens also took fourth place in the javelin.

There was second place finishes for Lucy Barrett over 1500m, Orla Comerford in the 100m and Victoria Leder in the hammer.

Kim O’Hare took second place in the triple jump TJ and third in the long jump. Niamh McCorry took third in the high jump.

Tara Meir was fourth in the 100m hurdles while Angela Castell-Rodriguez was fourth over 400m and fifth over 200m. Caroline Kavanagh took fifth place in the 400m hurdles. Susie O’Flynn finished fifth over 3000mand Aoibhinn McGoldrick was fifth over 800m.

The 4x100m relay and 4x400m team both took sixth place in their races. Very hard luck to the women’s team on coming so close to a medal.
