Men’s And Women’s Teams Advance To Indoor League Final

The Raheny Shamrock men’s and women’s team both booked their place in the national indoor league finals.

The men’s team finished in fifth place with 38 points while the women’s team finished seventh, both advancing to the league final on February third.

Orla Comerford finished second in the 60 metres with Niamh Kearney also taking second place over 1500m.

The 4x200m relay team of Tara Meier, Hannah Byrne, Isabele Twomey and Ellen Sheehan clocked 1:54.17 for fourth points. While Daphni Doulaptsi Teeuwen took second in the long jump with a best of 5.16 metres. Each athlete added 13 points to the team score.

Helen Buckley took third place in the shot put with a best of 8.93 metres. Buckley then jumped 1.30m in the high jump.

That resulted in the women’s team scoring 57.5 points added to the 56.5 points in round one saw the team finish seventh and advance to the final.

Meanwhile, Juan Ignacio Pena won the 1500m in 3:52.56. Oisin McCorry posted 52.72 seconds. Michael Farrelly clocked 7.02 seconds for second place in the 60 metres.

Tinaye Munkanya jumped 1.45m in the high jump and also grabbed two points in the shot put and four points in the long jump. The men’s 4x200m posted 94.22 seconds to take seven points.

That was enough for 38 points. Combined with the round one total of 47, the men’s team took fifth place overall and a place in the final.
