Kieran Kelly Lands National Five Mile Title

Kieran Kelly won the national five mile title in the Phoenix Park this afternoon, clocking 24 minutes 11 seconds.

Kelly was some 18 seconds clear of Moy Valley’s Luke Johnston in second place.

Kelly was followed home by Michael Brady 26:06, Anthony Sharkey 26:52 and Ciaran McCarthy 27:10 as the team took the national five mile title.

This is the second time the men’s team have won the national five mile road championship.

While the women’s team of Zoe Quinn, Ciara Brady and Tara Kennedy took the silver medal. Whereas, the team of Mary Walsh, Lorraine Byrne and Mary Lynch took the O/50 team gold.

There was individual master’s medals for Ciaran McCarthy O/50 silver. Zoe Quinn O/45 silver, Tara Kennedy O/50 gold, Mary Walsh O/50 bronze and Mary Lynch O/70 gold.

While Oisin McCabe junior men’s gold.

The results were Aidan Jones 27:16, David Jackson 27:40, Terry Keogh 28:36, Brian Kelly 29:21, Zoe Quinn 30:30, Ciara Brady 30:34 and Ross Ringwood 30:55.

Keith Fleming 32:08, Tara Kennedy 32:32, Paul Gannon 32:37, Mary Walsh 33:00, Shirley Coyle 33:20, Anthony Lee 34:05, Ken Doyle 34:32,Michael Kehoe 34:37 and Patrick Nolan 34:42.

Lorraine Byrne 35:01, Darren Meikle 35:37, Aoibhe Rooney 36:20, Niall Buckley 36:13, Elaine O’Hagan McNulty 37:14, Brendan Atkins 38:26, Aileen Cooke 38:43 and Oisin McCabe 38:36.

Maura Lynskey 38:41, Mary Lynch 39:39, Gerard Fay 43:21, Des Lyons 45:16, Rose McCaul 52:34, Conor Wynne Walsh 57:04 and Matt Wade 63:00.

Elsewhere on the roads Niall O’Neill post 18:05 at the Dublin Pride 5km on Friday. O’Neill was followed home by Kevin Morrissey 19:49, Helen Carr 21:26.

On Saturday, at the Longwoman’s 5km in Meath Gerard Fay posted 25:15 and Matt Wade 32:57.

Also on Saturday at the Micheal Manning Memorial at the Dunshaughlin 10km Robert Frewen clocked 33:52 followed by Bernard Roe 36:13, Conor Wynne Walsh 37:05, Stephen McDonnell 40:51, Brian Aherne 46:18 and Gerard Fay 56.55

At the Waterford Half-marathon, Barry Meehan clocked 74:14 for second place. The race was won by Pat Fitzgerald in 74:00.

While at the Waterford marathon Darragh Brennan posted 2:58.38 and Angela Charlton 4:40:51.
