Emmet O’Cleirigh RIP

It is with great sadness we in Raheny Shamrock learned of the loss of longtime member Emmet O’Cleirigh who passed away last Wednesday just four days short of his 20th birthday.

Emmet was a product of the Club’s Juvenile system and in the latter years had been a firm and popular figure in Damien Wall’s development group .

A fine athlete with a nice turn of speed among his achievements were a silver medal in the Dublin u18 championships and he was always a strong contributor on Club relay teams.

At secondary school in St. Fintans,  Emmet’s commitment and dedication was recognised with an Athlete of the Year award. He had just completed his first year in NCAD.

While his loss to the Athletic community is incalculable it pales in comparison to the grief being experienced by his mother Patricia, a vibrant and active member, his father Aonghus and his older brothers Cathal and Dara.

May Emmet rest easily.
