Niamh Fogarty broken the long-standing Irish senior record in the Women’s Discus record on Sunday.
Fogarty threw a best of 58.40 metres at the OK Throws Series meeting in the USA to break Patricia Walsh’s 41-year-old national record.
Fogarty’s record-breaking throw came in round two, an event won by Nigeria’s Obiageri Amaechi who threw 62.83m.
Patricia Walsh’s national record of 57.60m was well and truly bettered by Fogarty who has been having a very impressive season, including a good showing at last month’s European throwing cup.
Best wishes to Niamh as we hope to see the national record move further.
