Mick Clohisey took 18th place in the European Championship marathon posting 2:18:00 having been the leading Irish athlete for much of the race. Kevin Seaward (St Malachy’s) came through well for a 15th place finish in 2:16:58, leading the Irish team home. The Irish men’s marathon team finished an excellent sixth with a combined time of 6:53:55. Sean Hehir (Rathfarnham) was 25th to complete the team’s scoring.

Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club are saddened to learn of the passing of Paul Devenney, father of Simon Devenney. Mr.Devenney passed away on Tuesday August seventh. Mr.Devenney’s funeral takes place on Saturday, 11th August, at 10.00am in St. Brigid’s Church, Cabinteely, followed by Committal Service at 12.30pm in the Garden Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W.
