The St Stephen’s Day Paarlauf made a welcome return to it’s traditional venue in St Anne’s park with six teams taking part. In a very competitive race Adam Condon’s team including George Sevastopulo, Susie O’Flynn, Clare O’Leary and Deirbhile O’Keeffe came home first in the 20 minute continuous relay. Kieran Kelly claimed the 2021 Billy Peppard Cup with a clear victory over Adam Condon in three minutes 47 seconds (race distance is not a mile). Lucy Barrett was first woman home and claimed the Giblin cup. The Shamrock trophy (presented for first time in a number of years) for first junior man went to Adam Condon. Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club host a GOAL Mile on Christmas morning in St Anne’s Park at 11am. Raheny Shamrock first held a Christmas day road race on December 25th 1958 and have held a Christmas day race every year since, until of course 2020 when Covid-19 restrictions prevented this.
