Great Performances Again By The Juveniles At Nationals

The National Juvenile Uneven Ages Cross Country took place just outside Conna in Cork on Sunday.

The event was hosted by St. Catherine’s AC and was superbly organised. Conditions were very testing with plenty muck, loads of hills, and even a water feature thrown in for good measure!

On the Juvenile side from U13-U19, we had 17 athletes competing (all of whom qualified from Dublin Champs), taking home six medals!

Maggie Foley was the first runner in action in U13 girls over 2500m. Maggie had an excellent run and finished 72nd on the day.

Next up were our under 15 girls and boys teams competing over 3500m. The girls (Claire O’Leary, Chloe Griffin, Rachel Costello, Freyja O’Carroll, Esther Ntoko, Cara Griffin) finished 12th club team and the boys (Conrad Latham, George Sevastopulo, Tom Monaghan, Theo Duffy, Leo McCarthy, Joseph Kirwin) finished 10th club team on the day.

Claire finished 28th overall and was 4th scorer on the Dublin team which took home gold medals.

Conrad finished 19th overall and was 3rd scorer on the Dublin team which took home silver medals.

In the girls U17 race, Elena Forkan and Siomha Magee both ran excellent races and finished 25th and 36th respectively. Both Elena and Siomha scored on the Dublin team which took home gold medals.

Elena and Siomha also scored on the bronze medal winning provincial team.

Finally in the Girls U19 race, great runs also by Ella Beck and Sara Quarehima to finish 35th and 62nd respectively.

I think we would all agree that it has been a stellar cross country season for the youth of Raheny and a special mention goes to their coaches, Brian, Aisling, Damien and Dick.
