Dublin Juvenile Indoors day 3, 4, 5

February is chocker block with race fixtures for our juvenile Shamrocks.

The 12th and 25th Feb saw the u9-u14s represent the club with passion and pride. For some it was their first adventure on theindoor track out at the NIA. They all took it in their stride.

U10 girls saw the first medal of the weekend. Eight girls raced and all sprinted well with Leia, Noemi and Edie making it through the rounds to the final and Edie coming away with Silver! Second out of 90 girls is some achievement

In the u12 boys Matthew Peelo came fifth in the final after making it through three rounds. Great racing by Peelo.

U13 girls was a fantastic competition. five girls started out in the heats with Harriet and Anna making the final.

A blistering race saw Anna come away with gold in a time of 8.86 and Harriet in fifth place.

Anna and Harriet also qualified for the final of the u13 60m hurdles finishing sixth and eighth.

Another gold Medal in the u14 girls 60m went to Ariana in a time of 8.39 with Vivienne making it to the semi-final.

Off the track we had a gold medal in the u14 pole vault from Patrick Ryan with a jump of 1.40m. A new event for Patrick so well done.

Hannah jumped a personal best of 1.25 in the High jump to secure fourth place and her place in nationals. Alannah also jumped a PB of 1.20 to finish fifth in the u14s.

Day four was for the longer distances. U10 Ben and Leia missed out on medals by less than one second in the 400m placing fourth overall in boys and girls. Again these fields had over 80 athletes.

Anna Sheehan finished strong in the u13 600m final in eighth place. Leo ward made it to the final of the u12 600m finishing eighth in the final.

Oscar Sevastopulo finished 10th in the u14 800m final.

The best fun and loudest noise levels were definitely kept for Relay day. We had an amazing 21 teams race the 4x200m on the day.

Again our youngest crew led us out strong with the girls u10 team of Leia, Sarah, Edie and Noemi coming away with silver out of 28 teams.

U16 boys of Conal, Conrad, George and Davyd came away with the 2nd medal of the day coloured bronze

U14 girls of Vivienne, Ariana, Elena and Grace narrowly missed bronze by 0.13sec.

U15 girls of Erin, Rebecca, Olivia and Ariana finished fifth in the final. U19 girls of Lara, Ella, Sara and Grace came fourth in the final.

In the u14 girlsĀ  800m Maggie Foley ran a brave race from the gun to finish third in a dip for the line.

So all in all a hugely successful Dublin Indoors for our juvenile athletes. We have 17 individual athletes heading to the Nationals in April. We wish them luck.

Thanks again to the coaches who have given up all their February weekends to support their athletes and the parents for driving and providing snacks and support. Huge team effort!
