Favors Set For World Championships

Eric Favors set a seasons best when finishing second at the Powerfest Throws meet in Pennsylvania on Sunday night. Favors best of 20.48 metres was a seasons best and meets the surpass the Athletics Ireland set B standard for entry to the World Championships in Tokyo 2025. Favors is currently ranked inside the World rankings to qualify for Tokyo 2025.

Fay Sixth in Sweden Becker Sixth In Belgium

Brian Fay took fifth place in the 3000m at the Sollentuna meet in Sweden. Fay posted 7:43.59 in a race won out by local man Andreas Almgren in 7:31.42. Sophie Becker took sixth place in the 400m at the Oodregem international in Belgium. Becker posted 52.20 seconds for sixth place, the race was won by Belgium’s Helena Ponette.

Weekend Road Racing Round-Up

At the Streets of Galway 8km Cian Charlton posted 27:03 followed by Conor Grant 27:08 and Jane Hedigan 45:20. At the Kells Heritage 5km Gerard Fay posted 23:36 and Matt Wade clocked 33:57. On Sunday, at the Monaghan 10 Mile, Gerard Fay clocked 85:29.
